Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

from Season's Greetings from Lowbrow by Lowbrow

about

We were 100% rookies when it came to recording (so much so, that we tracked all the instruments before realizing it would be ridiculously hard to sing (hence all the yelling).

Despite being rookies, we still managed to coax a pretty decent guitar tone into the mic. We rerecorded the bass this year, and added some flair with Neviah doing the intro for us, and the gang doing an appropriate sounding "Send Them Back"

As with the other songs, we changed some lyrics (have you ever noticed how Christmas songs make no damn sense?)

lyrics

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walking home from our house, Christmas Eve,
You might say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
And we begged her not to go,
She forgot her medication,
As she stumbled out the door into the snow

When we found her the next morning,
At the scene of the attack
She had hoofprints on her forehead,
And incriminating Claus marks on her back

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walking home from our house, Christmas Eve,
You might say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

Now we're all so proud of Grandpa
He's been taking this so well
See him in there watching football
Drinking beer and playing cards with cousin Mel

It's not Christmas without Grandma
All the family's dressed in black
And we can't just help but wonder
Should we open up her gifts or send them back (SEND THEM BACK!)

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walking home from our house, Christmas Eve,
You might say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

Now the booze is on the table
And the tonic's mixed with gin
All the shot glasses are empty
Now we're ready for this party to begin

I've warned all my friends and neighbors,
Better watch our for yourselves
They should never give a license
To a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walking home from our house, Christmas Eve,
You might say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walking home from our house, Christmas Eve,
You might say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe
